Welcome To Purple House Medical Centre
Dr Mahendra C. Maharaj Practice Inc. was founded in November 1991 at Kagiso Mall, before moving to the current address in 1995. Affectionately named “purple house surgery” by the local community after the colour it had been painted so to stand out, the practice then expanded and formally became Purple House Medical Centre in 2010.
The practice serves the Kagiso, Azaadville and Witpoortjie regions and strives to provide comprehensive primary healthcare services at world class standards. Our aim is to continue to improve the health of the community we serve and apart from general medical care, also includes dental, psychology and podiatry services.
Furthermore, we also contribute to the various NGO’s serving the community – particularly orphanages and organisations serving disabled people.
Our Team
Dr Mahendra C. Maharaj – Practice Owner: Dr Maharaj studied medicine at Wits University, where he achieved his MB BCh degree in November 1989 and an independent medical practice qualification in December 1990. Dr Maharaj also has a Masters degree in Business Administration from Thames Valley University in London and a Diploma in HIV medicine (University of Stellenbosch 2006).
Moreover, as a family practice, incorporating public health into our services is a very important issue for us. It is therefore integral to our medical practice that we counsel patients on the prevention of injuries & illness, assess the health status of our community and promote healthy living.
